People who are very careful of their teeth, and, in
consequence, have them but
little discoloured, use it once a
month. Those whose teeth are easily tarnished, or who have
soft or spongy gums, make use of it every time their teeth
have lost their whiteness, without having the least fear of de-
stroying the enamel, or altering the gums, as many people
have supposed."

Make a powder, which mix intimately together.

" This powder is used to cleanse and whiten the teeth, to
keep them clean, to prevent the inconveniences which some-
times happen by the accumulation of tartar.
It is used with
a brush, on which the bristles are wide apart and rather hard,
in order that it may easily pass in the interstices of the teeth."
