CHAPTER II.
FORMULAE OF DENTAL MEDICINES.
In the application of the different medicines, medical and
mechanical substances, &c. used by physicians and dentists, it
will be readily acknowledged that a considerable variety
must obtain both in the combinations of these medicines and
their mode of exhibition. Of their several properties I have
spoken before. I will, in this place, only remark that many
of the old formulae are given more as matters of curiosity than
utility, and many forms of improper medicines are given, in
order to guard the dentist against them.
