Welcome to the webpage of the Museum of Dentistry

The Museum of Dentistry is housed within the School of Dentistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in the Goudi region of Athens. It contains a large selection of exhibitions, which are continuously being enriched by contributions from institutions and individuals. The exhibitions concern the history of the Athens School of Dentistry, dentistry in Greece, but also the historical evolution of dentistry on a global level. The collection includes instruments, devices, material and complete dental units used in dentistry. The museum’s photographic material comprises digitized archival material, such as case laws, statutes, proceedings excerpts of the “Iatrosynedrio” (early version of the National Medical Council), the University, the School of Medicine and the School of Dentistry, as well as general material relating to the evolution of dental theory and practice. Our goals for the Museum of Dentistry are to not have it be a static memorial exhibition space but a living educational environment, a cradle for research and culture accessible to all; to have it contribute to the study and promotion of the History of Dentistry, in general, and that of the School of Dentistry, specifically.
