The thanks of the author are extended to those friends and
students who have so greatly assisted him in the illustrations,
to the dental manufacturers who have kindly donated cuts
illustrating their products, as well as to his publishers for
their unremitting co-operation and interest. A number of
the illustrations added to this edition were originally used in
the writer's book, ^'Fundamentals of Operative Dentistry,"
to the publishers of which, Messrs. Ransom and Randolph
Co., acknowledgment is herewith gratefully tendered for their
permission.
If the work proves to be of assistance to teachers in out-
lining their courses, to the great body of young men yearly
entering upon the study of a noble profession, and to prac-
titioners of the science and art of dentistry, in acquiring a
deeper knowledge of the subjects of Dental Anatomy and
Operative Dentistry, the author will feel well repaid for the
labor expended in its preparation.
