instrument sharp. Care should be taken to follow the
original bevel of the blade and not to establish false bevels

during the sharpening process.
The stone should rest on a firm surface, should be kept
clean and free from grit and scratches. Some dentists prefer
to hold the instrument to be sharpened in the left hand
while manipulating the stone backward and forward with

the right.

2. Condensing Instruments. Definition: Instruments
designed for packing, plugging or condensing, mixing and

smoothing filling materials.
