"The operator should be at the right side, one of his knees placed on the
ground. The upper liji will lie held with the index finger of the left hand,
the thumb of the same hand resting upon those teeth which are located to
the right of the tooth to be filled with lead. In this position the lead is in-
troduced. If this position is not comfortable liy the time the filling is nearly
completed, the operator may rise, place the left arm over the head of the
patient and then complete the filling of the tooth.
