under jaw. The canine teeth had advanced forward so far,
that they had protruded the right lateral incisor entirely
out of the circle of the teeth, and within the mouth ; and
the right front incisor was turned around, so that it stood ex-
actly edge-ways between the cuspidatvis and the right lateral
incisor like a wedge ; its natural front and back sides being
against the side of those teeth I have before mentioned, name-
ly, the right cuspidati and the left front incisor. The left
lateral incisor was also considerably diverted from its natural
situation, so that the proximity of the canine teeth, and the
very irregular crowded state of the incisores, presented the
appearance upon looking down upon the edges of the teeth,
of six teeth, as it were, all in a block. The gentleman could
not. recollect of any circumstance or accident by which these
teeth could have been thus forced into such a singular mass,
being shaped more like a square block, than like a circle of
teeth as they naturally appear. The other teeth appeared to
be quite healthy, and their gums likewise, and in a natural po-
sition, except that they all seemed to incline forward more
than natural. From appearances, this mass of teeth had
occasioned some considerable irritation, by the peculiar and
great irregularity of their position. Some tartar was de-
posited around their necks, and an active process seemed to
have been going on for a long time, in order to remove all
these teeth. The right lateral incisor was pushed up, and its
alveolus so completely absorbed away, that it had not even
the appearance of a socket ; it was supported mechanically
by being pressed upon by the right cuspidati and the left
front incisor ; and the nerve and blood-vessels which entered
its cavity appeared to be in a healthy state, and the tooth it-
self did not appear to have lost its vitality. There was no
apparent suppuration about its fang. I have observed in
those cases when suppuration does take place about the
