has its shank in such form in relation to the axis of ilie shaft that its jjoint is just enough above the
center so that it wiU always set up in the position wanted when the shaft is laid across the finger
and the point is dropped on a table. This form requires the minimum of care in holding the instni-
ment steady in the position in which it may be placed while doing other work with the right hand.
It also illustrates the beginning of the filling in the convenience point.
