across the scale plate and the power exerted in each thrust is registered in pounds, automatically.
The thrust is made with the instnunent on the block .\, and as a result the mechanism causes the
bar B, carrying a pencil in its point c. to move over the scale plate, registering the number of
pounds. The paper with the printed scale. Figure 32, is placed under the rollers i) and e, and is
moved to the left automatically with each thrust, making a record as shown in Figure 33. The
illustrations of instnunent grasps. Figures 26-30, show the instrument in position on the block, also
the rollers with paper under them, and the end of the recording bar which carries the pencil.
